Thirsty but tired of spending your life on things that never satisfy? I open Isaiah 55 and let its invitation land the way it was meant to land: come to the waters, come hungry, come empty handed, and let God do what only he can do. We also pause on the line that humbles all of us, “My thoughts are not your thoughts,” and talk about what it means to seek the Lord while he may be found.
From there, I connect the passage to a New Testament hope that changes how we pray day to day: Jesus Christ made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, and the Holy Spirit dwelling within. Isaiah says God’s Word goes out like rain and snow and never returns empty. If you’ve wondered whether Scripture reading and quiet time really make a difference, this is the steady reminder your heart needs.
Then I share a true story from a workday in Colorado Springs when I pulled off the road after a prompting from the Holy Spirit. Thinking about Jesus’ words that even the stones could cry out, I got still and listened and I heard what I can only describe as creation praising God without stopping. It reshaped my worship and it might stretch yours too.
If you want a simple practice to try today, take this with you: step outside, get quiet before the Lord, and listen. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it.
