Unlocking Spiritual Triumph: Embracing Faith and Breaking Free from Sin's Shackles

Hello, friend, and welcome to "The Chaplain's Corner dot net. This is Chaplain Terry Warner. My podcasts come out every Monday morning, and now let's get going. Good morning, friend, chaplain Terry Warner here. The title of this podcast is Are we Hearers Only. It is season 4, episode 5. Your foundation scripture will be James 1, verses 23 through 26. Deuteronomy 28, that's the whole chapter. Galatians 3, verses 10 through 14 and verses 23 through 25. Do not merrily listen to the word or Jesus and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word or Jesus but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and then, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom. That's not Old Testament law. And continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it. He will be blessed in what he does. That's New Testament law. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight reign on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. That's James 1, verses 26. The Old Testament law was to show you that by doing things contrary to God's law would lead you to death. In other words, it was a law of do's and don'ts. You could try as hard as you wanted, but obeying physical laws could not eliminate your sins against God. It had to be a higher level law that would eliminate your sins all the way down to your soul and even to the point of having your spirit man recreated or born again. In other words, sacrifices and offerings could make atonement for your sins, but try as hard as you could if it was not strong enough nor high enough to cleanse and make you righteous. In other words, it was a spiritual problem that was higher than a physical solution. Now look at Romans 8.1. Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus, the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. So how do we receive God's spirit so that we can live above the evil in the world? Very simple by repenting of our sins, believing in our heart that God, the Father, raised Jesus from the dead, and confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. When you believe that in your heart and confess it with your mouth, it will become a reality through faith and you will be born again. In other words, we are born again, not by our corruptible seed, but by the incorruptible seed of God, the Word of God. All of this is accomplished by faith in Jesus Christ. Let me give you an example. Let's say we are in an airplane and get ready to take off. The law of gravity will keep us on the ground until we use a higher law called the Law of Lift. The wing of the aircraft is so designed that when we start going down the runway and reach a certain speed, we will supersede or overtake the law of gravity and we will start flying using the law of lift. Well, Jesus is our spiritual law, born of a woman just like us and a divine being who defeated the devil for us and, in so doing, made it possible for us to supersede the Old Testament Law that was keeping us in sin and a fallen state into a spiritual law that gave us the privilege to become the sons of God. Let me untangle that a little bit. Jesus was born of a woman, a physical birth. He came to earth and he laid aside his divine powers and he defeated the devil as a man on the earth. That's why he called himself the son of man. But he uses God's laws and God's spiritual laws and principles and God's word, and had the faith and was able to die for our sins, carry our diseases, be bruised with our stripes and iniquities and died, literally died, went to hell, preached to the ones in hell and God, after the sins had been paid for and everything, raised him from the dead, reconciling himself to the world. When he did that and we have been reconciled with to God, just like your bank accounts balance, we are reconciled, our balance to God. God's not mad at you, he's not holding anything back. He's giving you all he has. He'll give you all the blessings and everything. Well, Chaplain, Terry, how come I wind up having so much problems and everything? Because mainly, you don't understand or you don't know enough of the law to keep you spiritually afloat above the evil in the world. You've got to know what to do and he gives you the power to do that God does. He gives you the Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of Christ, the Spirit of God. And the Holy Spirit will teach you and show you while you're here on this earth. While he's here on this earth, he lives inside you and he will teach you and show you what you need to do. But a lot of us are too busy entertaining ourselves with worldly things and I preach to myself as much as anybody playing golf, doing this, doing that and just not paying attention to the spiritual laws of the world. And consequently our world has gotten into a terrible mess. People are now mocking God, making fun of him, making fun of Christians, when all along it was God who reconciled the world unto himself and brought us to good news of Jesus Christ. Now I digress. Let me see where I was in my notes. Once we put our faith and trust into Jesus, we, through and because of Jesus's blood sacrifice, are formed or recreated into a new spiritual being and become a child of God. He knew no sin was made to be sin so that I might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. However, just like flying requires new and more laws and procedures than one must attain than getting off the ground he's got to or she's got to we have got to read and get ourselves instructed and get teaching and learning so that we can have a successful flight and not crash. So, after being born again spiritually, we must also train and study and practice if we are to live life as a Christian. 2 Timothy, 3, 16 and 17. In order to maintain our spiritual life, we must read and study God's Word or Jesus and continue to conquer the devil on a daily basis. Do you realize that the devil is a fallen angel? He has absolutely no power over the Christian? He moves and operates by using our ignorance of God's law, and he does that to kill, steal and destroy our rights and privileges in Christ. Well, brother Terry, how do we walk in victory? Technically, we don't. Technically, we reside in Christ, wear His armor, use His words. The Bible and consequently the Holy Spirit can't tell us from Christ and we are able to defeat the devil using God's word, using Jesus' word, using the Holy Spirit's actions. Defeating the devil is too high a spiritual law for us on our own. That is why it is so important to know who you are in Christ and know how to use His tools and methods to defeat the devil until he returns for his church. Christ is the head. We are the body of Christ on this earth and should be using God's word to live in victory and defeating the devil on a daily basis. I urge you to read Deuteronomy 28, the whole chapter, and look at all the curses. And look at all the curses that we accept as just a fact of life. Well, it's just. We live in a fallen world, we live in a sinful world. Everything else Sin, sickness, disease, poverty. Did you know? Mildew is in none of the curses. Inflammation that's just a few of the curses. Curse is in none of the curses. There is a curse on everything. You look at Galatians 3, verses 13 and 14,. Christ has become a curse for us and has redeemed us or bought back by the blood of Jesus' sacrifice and restored us to our legal position of being a child of God. That's what Christ did and that's why he came. It's time we started reading and studying our Bible and take back from the devil all that he has stolen from us. We can fly in the spiritual realm above the evil in this world, but you've got to know how to fly and land the airplane in order to be successful. The Bible will teach you how, in no uncertain terms, you'll know. Get to reading the Word. Start with what you can, start with. Read it for 15 minutes a day and then increase it every week as much as you can, and read it and study it and then start doing what it says, so you don't deceive yourselves.
