00:00:00.400 --> 00:00:03.040
Hello friend, Chaplin Terry Warner here.
00:00:03.040 --> 00:00:07.280
This is a podcast audio of Dr.
00:00:07.280 --> 00:00:09.119
Lorette Willis.
00:00:09.119 --> 00:00:12.720
She's a cognitive behaviorist.
00:00:12.720 --> 00:00:15.679
Very exciting interview with her.
00:00:15.679 --> 00:00:26.160
And you can see it on YouTube if you go to my channel youtube.com forward slash at chaplain Terry Warner.
00:00:26.160 --> 00:00:31.120
Look under videos playlist, I think is the chaplain's corner.
00:00:31.120 --> 00:00:32.880
Look for praise moves.
00:00:32.880 --> 00:00:34.399
That's the name of the video.
00:00:34.399 --> 00:00:35.840
And I posted it there.
00:00:35.840 --> 00:00:37.600
Well, you'll want to listen to this.
00:00:37.600 --> 00:00:39.679
This is really something else.
00:00:39.679 --> 00:00:41.359
So no more introduction for me.
00:00:41.359 --> 00:00:44.560
I'm gonna turn it over and we'll switch over to the audio track.
00:00:44.560 --> 00:00:45.759
Thank you very much.
00:00:45.759 --> 00:00:47.520
You have a blessed day.
00:00:47.520 --> 00:00:52.320
Hello, friend.
00:00:52.320 --> 00:00:54.159
Chaplain Terry Warner here.
00:00:54.159 --> 00:00:55.679
My guest today is Dr.
00:00:55.679 --> 00:00:57.359
Lorette Willis.
00:00:57.359 --> 00:01:07.439
She is a I I count it a behavior, cognitive behavior therapist.
00:01:07.439 --> 00:01:10.239
And she's got so much to go on.
00:01:10.239 --> 00:01:14.159
I don't want to even begin listing the times and all the things.
00:01:14.159 --> 00:01:20.799
I'm gonna turn it over to her immediately and just let her go where she wants to go, and we'll follow along.
00:01:20.799 --> 00:01:25.280
So sit back and listen, and let's get your needs met today in Jesus' name.
00:01:25.280 --> 00:01:26.000
Amen.
00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:26.560
Dr.
00:01:26.560 --> 00:01:27.200
Lorette?
00:01:27.840 --> 00:01:28.879
Well, hallelujah.
00:01:28.879 --> 00:01:31.040
Thank you so much, Chaplain Terry.
00:01:31.040 --> 00:01:33.680
It's a blessing to be here today.
00:01:33.680 --> 00:01:40.159
You know, it's not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of Zechariah 4.6.
00:01:40.159 --> 00:01:49.439
You know, so if there's anything today that you feel, oh, I keep messing up, I keep making mistakes, why can't I get it right?
00:01:49.439 --> 00:01:53.599
You know, turn to the Lord because He has the answer.
00:01:53.599 --> 00:01:57.760
You know, you might find that, oh, I don't know if the Lord can use me.
00:01:57.760 --> 00:02:00.959
I've done so many wrong things in my life.
00:02:00.959 --> 00:02:07.599
Maybe you've had an abortion or a divorce or been in jail or, you know, any number of things.
00:02:07.599 --> 00:02:09.520
You had a hard childhood.
00:02:09.520 --> 00:02:18.479
And you might think, well, you know, I still have problems with substance abuse or some different things and habits that I'm ashamed of.
00:02:18.479 --> 00:02:28.639
Well, I want you to know the Lord is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.
00:02:28.639 --> 00:02:30.240
Well, what is that power?
00:02:30.240 --> 00:02:39.120
We know the power of faith, the power of love, the power of the Holy Spirit of God Himself on the inside of our recreated human spirit.
00:02:39.120 --> 00:02:52.000
When we have the power of God on the inside of us, especially through his word, and I'll just get my little Bible here because this is so important, the Word of God.
00:02:52.000 --> 00:03:03.759
And I invite you, if you don't know Jesus personally, um I invite you to do so today because Jesus, he's not a religion.
00:03:03.759 --> 00:03:12.479
You know, that was the thing, Chaplin Terry, when I was heavily involved in the New Age spirituality and movement through the door of yoga.
00:03:12.479 --> 00:03:22.800
My mom and I got involved in it when I was just seven years old, thinking it was just exercise, but it led us into, led me into 22 years.
00:03:22.800 --> 00:03:43.439
In New Age, I was a psychic, I was a channel, I was into metaphysics, tarot cards, astrology, um crystals, I mean levitation, everything, you know, A to Z, astrology to Zoroastrianism, and everything in between, looking for God in all the wrong places.
00:03:43.439 --> 00:03:49.280
And I finally one day just came to the end of myself and I cried out to God.
00:03:49.280 --> 00:03:50.719
I was an alcoholic.
00:03:50.719 --> 00:03:58.560
I was a high-functioning alcoholic, I was an actor off Broadway, a comedian, known as the woman of 101 Voices.
00:03:58.560 --> 00:04:00.879
I did the Betty Boop Show off Broadway.
00:04:01.120 --> 00:04:01.919
I certainly did.
00:04:01.919 --> 00:04:03.199
Boop boop bee-doop.
00:04:03.199 --> 00:04:04.159
I did.
00:04:04.159 --> 00:04:06.240
Do you remember Betty Boop, Chaplin Terry?
00:04:06.400 --> 00:04:07.439
Yeah, yes, I do.
00:04:08.560 --> 00:04:11.360
Well, I was Betty Boop, not the original one.
00:04:11.360 --> 00:04:13.520
I mean, she was created in 1928.
00:04:13.520 --> 00:04:14.960
That's a long time ago.
00:04:14.960 --> 00:04:21.120
But I did the Betty Boop Show off Broadway portraying Betty Boop and about 40 other characters and voices.
00:04:21.120 --> 00:04:33.040
I did a lot of voice work and laughing on the outside, seeing people laugh, making them laugh, you know, enjoying that, but empty on the inside and searching.
00:04:33.040 --> 00:04:37.759
And I couldn't imagine a day without alcohol, really.
00:04:37.759 --> 00:04:50.000
I'd started as a compulsive overeater at the age of six, an emotional eater, using food to cope with my life and a lot of trauma growing up in our home.
00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:52.480
Everything seemed lovely on the outside.
00:04:52.480 --> 00:04:54.399
Uh, both my parents were attorneys.
00:04:54.399 --> 00:04:58.240
My mother was the first woman assistant district attorney on Long Island.
00:04:58.240 --> 00:05:01.120
She was also a university professor.
00:05:01.120 --> 00:05:05.759
She was a mensa, you know, for those really smart people, and she didn't really want to do that.
00:05:05.759 --> 00:05:08.399
But my dad was like, uh, you're brilliant.
00:05:08.399 --> 00:05:09.279
You should take the test.
00:05:09.279 --> 00:05:09.920
And so she did.
00:05:09.920 --> 00:05:10.879
She was okay.
00:05:10.879 --> 00:05:12.800
And my dad was also a judge.
00:05:12.800 --> 00:05:14.000
We lived on Long Island.
00:05:14.000 --> 00:05:16.000
Everything just seemed so beautiful.
00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:24.959
But on the inside, there was a there was rage, there was alcoholism, there was overeating, there was sadness.
00:05:24.959 --> 00:05:30.560
My mother was diagnosed schizophrenic and had three nervous breakdowns when I was growing up.
00:05:30.560 --> 00:05:32.720
Uh, my dad was an emotional eater.
00:05:32.720 --> 00:05:34.639
He also could fly into a rage.
00:05:34.639 --> 00:05:43.120
He was not physically abusive, but he would get, you know, enraged with things, and it was kind of scary, you know, walking on eggshells, as it were.
00:05:43.120 --> 00:05:46.079
And to cope, I used food.
00:05:46.079 --> 00:05:51.040
And so I I ask, you know, you who are listening today, have you ever done that?
00:05:51.040 --> 00:05:57.279
Have you ever um used comfort food instead of going to the comforter?
00:05:57.279 --> 00:06:00.160
And you might say, Well, I don't even know who the comforter is.
00:06:00.160 --> 00:06:17.199
Well, I think uh Chaplain Terry and I would like to introduce him to you because I said, Chaplin Terry, you know, my husband Paul and I, we were both in uh the New Age spirituality, which is a combination, a conglomeration of a lot of different beliefs.
00:06:17.199 --> 00:06:27.839
It's basically God in our image instead of the truth that we are made in the image of God, Genesis 1, 26 and 27.
00:06:28.079 --> 00:06:32.959
So Paul and the past.
00:06:33.279 --> 00:06:33.519
Yeah.
00:06:33.759 --> 00:06:38.879
And you can't you can't get down the road to the future if you if you let if you hang on to the past.
00:06:38.879 --> 00:06:40.639
You gotta forget those things.
00:06:40.639 --> 00:06:43.519
And more than forget them, you gotta do away with them.
00:06:43.519 --> 00:06:50.800
And it takes time and effort and uh a specific effort, otherwise they just get masked and you hide them.
00:06:50.800 --> 00:06:52.560
Didn't mean to interrupt you there.
00:06:52.879 --> 00:06:54.240
No, no, please do.
00:06:54.240 --> 00:06:57.759
I'm I'm happy for the uh the conversation, absolutely.
00:06:57.759 --> 00:07:11.120
Well, my husband and I, after we got saved, after we turned our lives over to the Lord Jesus, uh, we said, Why didn't anybody ever tell us we could have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ?
00:07:11.120 --> 00:07:13.600
I always thought people were talking about some kind of a religion.
00:07:13.600 --> 00:07:17.519
You know, you had to go to a certain church, believe a certain doctrine, this and that.
00:07:17.519 --> 00:07:19.439
And I was like, nah, I don't think so.
00:07:19.439 --> 00:07:25.680
Had I known a personal relationship, that's really what it's all about.
00:07:25.680 --> 00:07:27.360
And as a child, I knew that.
00:07:27.360 --> 00:07:32.480
I had a closeness with the Lord when I was little bitty, like the ages of three and a half till I was six.
00:07:32.480 --> 00:07:42.639
But then that wall comes up and there's that distance, and the enemy uses so many things to try to keep us away from God.
00:07:42.639 --> 00:07:57.120
So before we go any further, I just feel this impetus to want to ask you who's uh listening if you've been uh away from the Lord for a long time, or you say, Well, I don't even know if I'm saved, what does saved mean?
00:07:57.120 --> 00:08:00.160
Well, salvation, it's wholeness, completeness.
00:08:00.160 --> 00:08:04.560
It comes from shalom in Hebrew, peace, nothing missing, nothing broken.
00:08:04.560 --> 00:08:07.360
It's also the power that destroys chaos.
00:08:07.360 --> 00:08:09.199
That's the peace.
00:08:09.199 --> 00:08:11.279
Jesus is the prince of peace.
00:08:11.279 --> 00:08:26.399
So if you have chaos in your life, if you feel that there's a missing uh piece, a P-I-E-C-E on the inside of you, uh it may well be the missing P E or A C E peace of God.
00:08:26.399 --> 00:08:30.160
And it's a peace that only Jesus can give.
00:08:30.160 --> 00:08:54.559
But you know, Pastor Terry, one thing I love is that it's so very simple to receive uh that peace, to receive uh Jesus as our Lord and Savior, to save us from ourselves, to save us from the uh eternal torment of being apart from God, to have that closeness with the uh with the Lord.
00:08:54.559 --> 00:08:55.440
It's so simple.
00:08:55.440 --> 00:08:59.200
And I once asked the Lord, why did you make it so simple?
00:08:59.200 --> 00:09:06.639
And I believe in my heart he said to me, if it weren't simple, then the simple could not be saved.
00:09:06.879 --> 00:09:07.279
Yes.
00:09:07.279 --> 00:09:10.639
Oh, that is and the peace is the shalom.
00:09:10.639 --> 00:09:12.720
It's so much more than peace.
00:09:12.720 --> 00:09:15.919
Peace is just a a a fraction of it.
00:09:15.919 --> 00:09:21.519
We're talking complete whole wholeness and entity inside Christ.
00:09:21.519 --> 00:09:26.559
And boy, yeah, I mean, everything gets calmed down when you put shalom on things.
00:09:26.960 --> 00:09:27.840
That's right.
00:09:27.840 --> 00:09:31.440
Everything gets calmed down when you put shalom on it.
00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:32.320
I like that.
00:09:32.320 --> 00:09:33.360
That's good.
00:09:33.360 --> 00:09:35.840
That's a t-shirt right there, I think.
00:09:35.840 --> 00:09:40.000
Everything gets worked out just right.
00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:51.840
Well, in Romans 10, verses 9 and 10 says, if you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
00:09:51.840 --> 00:09:55.440
You will be made whole, a new heart, a new start, a new beginning.
00:09:55.440 --> 00:09:59.600
You're made a new creation in Christ Jesus right that moment.
00:09:59.600 --> 00:10:05.519
I know when I received Jesus, I felt like a huge weight lifted off me.
00:10:05.519 --> 00:10:10.879
It felt like about 30 pounds of weight that I thought was just my body on the earth.
00:10:10.879 --> 00:10:12.720
And it was the weight of sin.
00:10:12.720 --> 00:10:14.480
I didn't even believe in sin.
00:10:14.480 --> 00:10:19.600
As new agers, we were taught that sin was an acronym for self-inflicted nonsense.
00:10:19.600 --> 00:10:21.519
And why did Jesus come then?
00:10:21.519 --> 00:10:23.039
Oh, he was just a good teacher.
00:10:23.039 --> 00:10:25.519
That was the deception that we were taught.
00:10:25.519 --> 00:10:30.879
But when I came to the end of myself and I just cried out to God, I said, I surrender, I give up, you win.
00:10:30.879 --> 00:10:34.399
Jesus, if you can do something with this life, you can have it.
00:10:34.399 --> 00:10:37.039
And I wanted Jesus to be the Lord of my life.
00:10:37.039 --> 00:10:41.600
So I ask you, do you want Jesus to be the Lord of your life?
00:10:41.600 --> 00:10:45.360
I mean, just think, who else could there be?
00:10:45.360 --> 00:10:47.120
No one else, no one else.
00:10:47.120 --> 00:10:48.960
He made you, he loves you.
00:10:48.960 --> 00:10:53.519
So all you have to do is say, and I invite you to say it after me.
00:10:53.519 --> 00:10:55.840
Father God, I come to you.
00:10:55.840 --> 00:11:00.399
Father God, I come to you in the name of the Lord Jesus.
00:11:00.720 --> 00:11:02.080
In the name of the Lord Jesus.
00:11:03.440 --> 00:11:05.840
Father, you know all the mistakes I've made.
00:11:06.240 --> 00:11:07.679
You know all the mistakes I've made.
00:11:08.240 --> 00:11:10.000
You've known the sins I've committed.
00:11:10.559 --> 00:11:12.000
You know the sins I've committed.
00:11:12.559 --> 00:11:14.159
I ask you to forgive me of sin.
00:11:14.720 --> 00:11:16.159
I ask you to forgive me of your sin.
00:11:16.159 --> 00:11:18.960
Put them as far as the east as from the west.
00:11:18.960 --> 00:11:19.519
Yes.
00:11:19.519 --> 00:11:23.120
Throw them behind your back, put them in the sea of forgiveness.
00:11:25.120 --> 00:11:28.080
I want Jesus to be the Lord of my life.
00:11:28.080 --> 00:11:34.000
I believe you raised him from the dead.
00:11:34.000 --> 00:11:38.720
Jesus, come into my heart.
00:11:38.720 --> 00:11:42.720
Be my Lord, be my savior.
00:11:42.720 --> 00:11:49.200
And Father, I will love you and serve you all the rest of my days.
00:11:49.200 --> 00:11:50.879
In Jesus' name.
00:11:50.879 --> 00:11:51.840
Amen.
00:11:51.840 --> 00:11:59.919
Now, if you prayed that prayer for the first time or the first time in a long time, I invite you to reach out to Chaplain Terry and let him know.
00:11:59.919 --> 00:12:06.799
I know that he has resources that he can share with you, showing you how you can live a victorious Christian life.
00:12:06.799 --> 00:12:22.399
And did you hear in that uh Chaplain Terry how just those two little steps to ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life and believe in your heart, not in your head, but believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
00:12:22.399 --> 00:12:29.600
I believe that in everyone, there's that, yeah, I I don't know why I believe it, but yeah, I do.
00:12:29.600 --> 00:12:37.519
And there's a whole lot of evidence for it too, historically, more than there's evidence for Julius Caesar to have been alive, really.
00:12:37.519 --> 00:12:38.879
It's true.
00:12:38.879 --> 00:12:39.519
Yeah.
00:12:39.519 --> 00:12:45.440
So just to believe in your heart, God raising from the from the dead, that makes a difference.
00:12:45.440 --> 00:12:54.399
I I'm sure, you know, Chaplain Terry, that you have some amazing stories of people changing once they receive Jesus.
00:12:54.399 --> 00:12:55.279
Have you?
00:12:55.600 --> 00:12:56.480
Oh, yes.
00:12:56.480 --> 00:13:04.399
Well, myself, I can speak for myself big time, facing death three certain times in Vietnam.
00:13:04.399 --> 00:13:07.919
Uh it's extremely detailed and stuff.
00:13:07.919 --> 00:13:09.200
I won't go into it now.
00:13:09.200 --> 00:13:18.240
But you know, when we accept Christ and receive him into our hearts, we get the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and it's the anointing that breaks the yoke.
00:13:18.240 --> 00:13:26.159
And so that that uh weight you felt Lee was the yoke being broken off the shoulders, holding you down.
00:13:26.799 --> 00:13:34.000
Wow, that's beautiful, and that's Y-O-K-E, not Y-O-L-K, right?
00:13:34.000 --> 00:13:38.000
It's not a yoke from an egg, it's a yoke of bondage.
00:13:38.000 --> 00:13:43.360
Yeah, and Jesus says, My yoke is easy, my burden is light.
00:13:43.360 --> 00:13:47.279
His we're yoked to him, and he's he's doing the hard work.
00:13:47.919 --> 00:13:52.720
Yes, it's not what I can do for God, it's what God can do through me.
00:13:52.720 --> 00:13:54.960
Yes, that makes the difference, you know.
00:13:55.440 --> 00:13:56.080
That's true.
00:13:56.080 --> 00:14:01.840
What does it take, do you think, to be that vessel of honor that the Lord can flow through?
00:14:02.720 --> 00:14:06.480
It for me it was a it was a quality decision that I made.
00:14:06.480 --> 00:14:16.559
I used to have a terrible temper, and I would fly off, and I had a dog that would dig a hole under the fence and get away and just drive him up a wall.
00:14:16.559 --> 00:14:22.960
And I caught him one day and was uh giving him a spanking for get getting out from under the fence.
00:14:22.960 --> 00:14:28.720
And a kid, a kid across the street yelled, Mister, why don't you pick on somebody your own size?
00:14:28.720 --> 00:14:41.519
So I went inside and I was so mad, and I slammed my fist down on the recliner and I said, as of right now, I will not get upset ever again, period.
00:14:41.519 --> 00:14:48.399
And I said that about a thousand times over the next week, at least that much.
00:14:48.399 --> 00:14:54.639
And now, and then one day, one day, my words brought about the desired result.
00:14:54.639 --> 00:14:58.399
Speak to the mountain, get rid of the unbelief by your words.
00:14:58.399 --> 00:15:08.879
What comes out your mouth is what establishes where you are in life and where you are in Christ, and that's why you speak with the mouth of this the confession of salvation.
00:15:08.879 --> 00:15:14.559
And then I got mad at God one time and stayed mad at him for about three years.
00:15:14.559 --> 00:15:17.120
And yeah, a long time.
00:15:17.120 --> 00:15:19.360
And it was stupid.
00:15:19.360 --> 00:15:24.159
But when you're out of God's will, a lot you do a lot of ignorant things.
00:15:24.159 --> 00:15:28.320
So anyway, I finally came back around and the Lord confronted me about it.
00:15:28.320 --> 00:15:30.960
So I repented and got rid of it, and he accepted me back.
00:15:30.960 --> 00:15:37.360
And he's not only the God of a second chance, he's the God of the third, fourth, fifth, however many chances you need.
00:15:37.360 --> 00:15:39.919
He's the God, he's the God of it.
00:15:39.919 --> 00:15:42.320
Yes, yes.
00:15:42.720 --> 00:15:48.559
Whatever you need, he is, he not only has it, he is it.
00:15:48.559 --> 00:15:57.360
I had a pastor that used to say that one of the names of the Lord is if I don't have it, I will make it for you.
00:15:57.360 --> 00:15:59.919
You know, he is that I am God.
00:15:59.919 --> 00:16:03.840
We get to spend eternity with him.
00:16:03.840 --> 00:16:04.399
Yeah.
00:16:04.639 --> 00:16:12.320
I think about like justified, just as I, just as I, you know, that's where I've been made righteous.
00:16:12.320 --> 00:16:16.480
Not my righteousness, been made righteous with his righteousness.
00:16:16.720 --> 00:16:17.279
Yeah.
00:16:17.519 --> 00:16:23.519
And then the thing, I guess, I reached a point after fellowshipping with him and staying with him and reading the Bible.
00:16:23.519 --> 00:16:31.120
I started reading the the Bible by reading the living uh Bible paraphrase.
00:16:31.120 --> 00:16:41.519
Oh, and then after I translate I got through with that, then I went into King James and Hebrews and and all the Greek and stuff like that.
00:16:41.519 --> 00:16:45.679
But uh when I got serious about God, he got serious about me.
00:16:45.679 --> 00:16:47.919
Now that's not really true.
00:16:47.919 --> 00:16:51.679
He was serious about me before I understood it.
00:16:51.679 --> 00:16:56.960
And but nevertheless, he kept he was patient with me and he guided me around.
00:16:56.960 --> 00:17:04.240
And uh, and sometime uh we'll have to get back together, I'll explain about my dear death near death experience.
00:17:04.240 --> 00:17:07.039
I mean near death.
00:17:07.039 --> 00:17:19.359
Yeah, uh three times there and um in and uh consequently my Parkinson's I got sprayed with Asian orange, but I'm healed, I'm healed in the name of Jesus.
00:17:19.359 --> 00:17:24.000
Yes, you are and uh and so I really ign ignore it to be truthful, yes.
00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:34.880
Uh oh, one one thing that helps it a lot is exercise, diet and exercise, and golf especially helps Parkinson's tremendously.
00:17:34.880 --> 00:17:35.680
Really?
00:17:35.680 --> 00:17:36.240
Yes.
00:17:36.240 --> 00:17:39.039
So I'm 79 and I was playing right-handed.
00:17:39.039 --> 00:17:45.920
I had two little, what do you call them TIAs, which were in my right side, and I couldn't do right-handed.
00:17:45.920 --> 00:17:48.799
So I just wish and started playing left-handed.
00:17:49.680 --> 00:17:51.440
And now how do you do?
00:17:51.839 --> 00:17:52.640
I do pretty good.
00:17:52.640 --> 00:17:54.799
I shoot in the middle to high 40s. [Middle 40's to middle 50's]
00:17:55.119 --> 00:17:56.160
That's wonderful.
00:17:56.400 --> 00:17:58.880
Yeah, for 79 years old, that's not bad.
00:17:59.119 --> 00:18:00.000
Hey, hey.
00:18:00.000 --> 00:18:04.319
That's wonderful.
